At Subarna Tea, LLC, one of the signature teas we proudly offer is our Premium Jasmine Tea — a beautifully fragrant and delicately balanced blend that embodies centuries of tradition and craftsmanship. We’d like to share a little insight into how this exceptional tea is created, from the careful harvesting of the leaves to the artful scenting with fresh jasmine blossoms.

What Is Jasmine Tea?
Jasmine tea isn’t a separate type of tea plant — it’s typically a green tea (made from Camellia sinensis) that has been scented with jasmine flowers. Occasionally, white or oolong teas are used as the base, but green tea remains the most traditional and beloved choice for its fresh, vegetal flavor that complements jasmine’s floral aroma perfectly.
Step 1: Harvesting the Tea Leaves
The process begins with carefully plucking young tea leaves and buds from the Camellia sinensis plant — the same plant used to produce all true teas. These leaves are lightly steamed or pan-fired to preserve their natural sweetness and prevent oxidation, creating a smooth and delicate base ready to absorb the fragrance of jasmine blossoms.
Step 2: Picking the Jasmine Blossoms
Jasmine flowers are harvested in the early morning while still tightly closed. As evening approaches and the air cools, the blossoms begin to open, releasing their intoxicating aroma. This is the perfect moment to pair them with freshly processed tea leaves for scenting.
Step 3: Scenting the Tea
Here’s where the artistry of jasmine tea truly shines. The tea leaves and fresh jasmine flowers are layered together overnight, allowing the tea to naturally absorb the flower’s sweet, floral fragrance. In fine jasmine teas — such as our Premium Jasmine Tea — this scenting process is repeated up to six or seven times to achieve a lasting, elegant aroma and flavor.
Each scenting round uses new blossoms to ensure that every cup of jasmine tea carries the pure essence of the flower. After the process is complete, the flowers are gently removed, leaving behind tea leaves deeply infused with their fragrance.
Step 4: Drying and Finishing
Once scented, the tea is carefully dried to lock in its aroma and taste. Some jasmine teas are rolled into delicate pearls — known as Jasmine Dragon Pearls — while others are left as loose leaves. Both forms capture the soothing and aromatic experience that jasmine tea lovers adore.
Step 5: Brewing the Perfect Cup
To experience the full beauty of jasmine tea, brew it with 80–85°C (176–185°F) water and steep for 2–3 minutes. This gentle approach brings out the tea’s soft floral notes and natural sweetness without bitterness.
Why Jasmine Tea Is So Special
The magic of jasmine tea lies in its harmony — the perfect balance between tea and flower, aroma and taste, craftsmanship and care. Beyond its exquisite scent, jasmine tea is also rich in antioxidants, may help reduce stress, and supports calm, mindful moments with every sip.
